Senior Accountant

  • The role of the Senior Accountant is to manage general accounting duties as assigned by the Accounting leadership, including maintenance of financial datasheets, input and review of journal entries, reconciliations, assistance with internal and external audits, and other accounting duties.
  • Reporting To: Controller
  • Position is FT on site Monday – Friday
  • Salary: 90 – 110K
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Travel may be required for business purposes. If so, the employee must have a
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the state in which they work and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Seven (7) or more years in General Accounting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, excellent use of Excel preferred
  • Ability to establish priorities, work to strict deadlines, and to deal with shifting and conflicting deadlines and priorities
  • Strong analysis, problem solving and excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience with general ledger functions and monthly accounting close processes
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulatory requirements
  • Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and/or oversight of company accounting functions related to:
  • Client revenue, grant and fee income and receivables
  • Staff and operating expenses, and payables
  • Bank/cash management accounts
  • Intercompany and vendor relationships
  • Financial audits – US tax accounting and tax returns
  • Fixed assets and fixed asset depreciation
  • Maintain checklists during closing and department audits
  • Responsible for monthly financial results reporting
  • Follows up with other entities in clearing Intercompany mismatches EOE/M/F/D/V
  • Follows up with staff on deadlines and pending issues
  • Assists in the assurance of the integrity of the financial statements
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Monitoring of Balance Sheet accounts. Reviews/Performs reconciliations and account analysis
  • Monitoring of Intercompany accounts and balances
  • Monitoring of P/L accounts to ensure accurate allocations
  • Assists in Regulatory Reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of audit requirements and special projects
  • Prepare and/or review journal entries of staff
